Stop line creepers. I don't think this one gets enough attention/

You know, those drivers who, if they didn't already stop beyond the stop line at an intersection, stop behind the line then slowly creep forward into the intersection. They never move immediately when the light turns green, so the only thing they're generally accomplishing is blocking the view for drivers who can turn right on red.

They are the automotive equivalent of people who keep pushing the elevator button because they think it will make the elevator arrive sooner.

I was once saw a line creeper just gun it - even when the light was still red. They just slowly began creeping forward, expecting the red light to turn green at any moment, but after about 20 seconds, they just raced right on through. I honestly couldn't even believe it. I've never seen anyone run a red light, after they already stopped for it.

I've seen that at least 3 times here.

I creep. I'm impatient. Never very far though.

I saw an old guy in a Mercury Milan last week that I don't think was capable of holding the brake pedal down.

He'd stop far back, then 'jump' his way forward. Like, he'd be stopped for a second, then creep but jab the brake. It was frightening

Back when I had my riviera, I saw a guy in a saturn ion do something similar where he just kept creeping until he could no longer see the light. This two lane road narrowed down to one and I got the vibe that he didn't want to have me merge in front of him, and I wasn't planning on it until he was a full car length in front of the line. I waited and the moment it turned green, then I gave it a bootful and cut his dumb ass off. I miss my stupidly fast sleeper boat. :(

I see this more and more and it continues to baffle me.

How about the jackasses that think that it's their job to enforce their own perceived rules about merging and blocking the merging lane 2miles from the merge.

If everyone drove a manual this wouldn't happen. It's cause of all of the evil automatics out there. - Average Jalopnik Comment

There was an old lady in an 80's GM box that used to straight up run red lights by my parents' house. She'd be sitting their, with no cross traffic, and just decide to go. She was pretty famous around town, and for some reason never had her driving privileges removed.

Not to mention that when you are past the line, you are NOT on the sensor loop that lets the traffic signal know you are there....Not a problem if there are people behind you I guess..

I was once behind an old woman in a Lincoln who creeped through the entire intersection. She didn't even stop first.

I have occasionally done this when there was absolutely no one around. I stopped like usual, but when I realize that nobody is even outside within sight I will sometimes go

I like it when they pull so far forward that they no longer can see the light. So when the light changes, they just sit there until you honk at them. WAY TO GET AHEAD

You should come to NYC. Where EVERYONE does this.

Sorry it just really ticks me off, and in that same spot where this happens your pet peeve happens all the time, there is the biggest sign known to man that says stop here when red, and people are halfway into the intersection. I think I am going to start a driving school for anyone that actually wants to learn how to drive properly.

I always watch the light for the other direction like a countdown to green & when someone next to me starts to creep too early I instantly say this in my head.

Where do you live that signal lights use this? Down where I stay everything runs on a timer.

Can we put them in the same hell as people that put their brakes on to go through green lights?

Most places do, don't they? I've noticed a lot of lights all over the country that seem to use a sensor...I thought that was almost standard now. Learn something new every day.

They are the automotive equivalent of people who keep pushing the elevator button because they think it will make the elevator arrive sooner.

And then shuffle slowly into the elevator while checking their phone, holding you up.

And then act mystified when the doors close and their phone loses signal.

Look down at the road as you approach an intersection, you'll probably see little cuts in the pavement in the shape of a square, that's the sensor loop. It uses a magnetic field to detect when a vehicle is present. Most parking gates use the same type of sensor.
